TRUMP DECLARES WAR on Thune: Senate SHOCKWAVE Incoming!

Standing at Joint Base Andrews, former President Trump addressed reporters, focusing on a legislative proposal enjoying what he described as overwhelming public support. He asserted the “SAVE America Act” resonated with over 80% of Americans, framing it as the most popular bill he’d ever been associated with.

The core of the debate centered on the Senate filibuster, a procedural hurdle requiring 60 votes to advance most legislation. Trump argued that eliminating this rule would pave the way for swift passage of the bill, and numerous others, currently stalled in Congress.

He repeatedly challenged Republicans to abandon the 60-vote threshold, citing a perceived hypocrisy given his belief that Democrats would utilize the same tactic if the situation were reversed. The former President questioned why his party wouldn’t seize the opportunity to enact its agenda.

During a previous period of government shutdown, Trump had frequently advocated for employing the “nuclear option” – a move to override the filibuster. He vividly recalled presenting a detailed, two-page list of potential legislative victories that would become attainable with the rule’s removal.

That list, he explained, included measures like universal voter ID laws, restrictions on mail-in voting, an end to cash bail, and policies addressing participation in sports and welfare eligibility. He emphasized the breadth of potential accomplishments, suggesting a transformative shift in policy was within reach.

Trump expressed a growing acceptance of altering Senate rules, acknowledging his past reservations. He argued that the Democrats’ likely willingness to do so necessitated a similar response from Republicans, framing inaction as a strategic disadvantage.

He directly questioned the logic of Republican opposition, stating it “doesn’t make any sense” for members of his party to resist a tactic he believes would unlock significant legislative gains. The former President’s remarks underscored a continuing frustration with the constraints of the current Senate procedures.
