ICE Agents Kill Migrant in Maine

ICE Agents Kill Migrant in Maine

The migrant shot and killed by ICE agents on Monday has been identified, along with his final words before his death. The incident could soon turn into a mess for the Department of Homeland Security as investigations unfold.

According to authorities, a driver in Biddeford, Maine, reportedly attempted to run over ICE agents during a targeted enforcement operation Monday morning, forcing the agents to fire their weapons in self-defense. The suspect was killed in the incident, which occurred around 7:20 AM at an intersection in Biddeford, Maine.

Faced with an immediate threat to their lives, an ICE agent was forced to draw their weapon and fire in clear self-defense, neutralizing the suspect. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

ICE later released a statement saying the individual was "an illegal alien with a final order of removal" at the time of the incident. The individual, later identified as a 26-year-old migrant, had been involved in a targeted surveillance operation by ICE agents.

A family friend claimed that the man killed was Joan Sebastian Guerrero, a migrant originally from Colombia who leaves behind a wife, a 3-year-old child, and a sister. According to claims by two left-wing organizations, Guerrero was authorized to work in the United States and had been issued a Social Security number.

Investigators, however, have not released Guerrero's identity and are still waiting for further information. Witnesses reported hearing several shots fired and seeing Guerrero being pulled from a white Kia car, with his head bleeding profusely.

One witness, 71-year-old Daniel Boucher, stated that Guerrero's final words before his death were "I tried to stop." Boucher also described the traumatic scene he witnessed, saying, "Nobody should have to see what I saw."

This incident may be about to get messy for DHS if one believes Senator Angus King (D-ME). Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin allegedly told King that Guerrero was not the target of an arrest warrant, which may raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

This is the second fatal ICE-involved shooting in less than a week, following a similar incident in Houston where an illegal alien from Mexico was shot in self-defense after attempting to run over an ICE vehicle.
