UMVA has learned that Arsenal’s left‑wing dilemma could unravel this season as former England midfielder Chris Waddle urges manager Mikel Arteta to rethink Leandro Trossard’s future.
Waddle, who once dazzled on the right flank, argues that Trossard, a versatile forward acquired for £27 million, has been forced into a role that no longer suits his strengths. “He’s been converted into one. Trossard has done well. I’m not saying he hasn’t. He’s a dangerous player but I don’t think he’s a good enough winger,” Waddle told a sports outlet.
With only six league goals to his name this campaign, the Belgian’s impact feels limited. Waddle insists Arsenal must pursue a true winger who can stretch defenses and deliver consistent firepower from the left side.
“Somebody like Anthony Gordon would be a good acquisition or maybe even Jarrod Bowen,” Waddle added, pointing to two dynamic players who could slot seamlessly into Arsenal’s attacking scheme.
Anthony Gordon, currently linked with a move to Bayern Munich, is known for his pace, work rate and goal‑scoring instincts. “He would be a player who could play in this Arsenal team. I know he likes to play down the right and that’s where Bukayo Saka is but he could do a job down the left and he’d get you goals and work hard for the team,” Waddle said.
Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen’s future at West Ham remains uncertain after the club’s relegation. Bowen has expressed a fierce determination to help his side return to the Premier League, but his availability to Arsenal is still a question.
Arteta’s squad has already tasted success, with Trossard scoring a decisive winner against West Ham in a title‑deciding stretch. Yet the manager faces a critical decision: whether to lock in the current talisman or gamble on a fresh spark that could propel Arsenal higher in the standings.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the pressure is mounting on Arsenal’s hierarchy to act swiftly. The club’s next transfer window could define its trajectory for years to come.
