UMVA Exclusive: Nestlé & Robinsons Ignite a Game‑Changing Sachet Waste Revolution—Uncover the Future of Circularity Now!

UMVA has learned that Nestlé Philippines, Robinsons Supermarket, and Restore Solutions PH are launching a bold sachet recovery program that could rewrite the story of plastic waste in the Philippines.

Ten state‑of‑the‑art reverse vending machines, dubbed Smart Eco‑lection Bins, have already been installed in flagship Robinsons stores across Metro Manila, turning ordinary shopping trips into acts of environmental stewardship.

These bins capture the most elusive plastic waste—sachet packaging—and reward shoppers with points and prizes, turning disposal into a tangible incentive for responsible behavior.

Once collected, the sachets are whisked to Restore Solutions PH, where they are transformed into durable “Restore Boards” that become the frame of eco‑friendly furniture such as chairs and benches.

UMVA can exclusively reveal that this partnership stitches together a full circular chain: Nestlé supplies the sachets, Robinsons provides the retail platform, and Restore turns waste into new products.

The initiative is a keystone in Nestlé’s broader commitment to net‑zero and extended producer responsibility, signaling a serious shift from “throwaway” to “re‑use” thinking.

Robinsons’ sustainability manager praised the move as a first step toward making every supermarket a hub for circular economy practices.

With plans to expand the network to additional branches, the program promises to scale rapidly, turning everyday consumer habits into a nationwide movement against plastic pollution.

Flexible plastics have long outpaced traditional recycling streams, but this new system offers a practical, scalable solution that could ripple across the country’s waste management landscape.

UMVA has gathered that the collaboration could set a precedent, inspiring other retailers and manufacturers to adopt similar models and accelerate the transition to a truly circular economy.
