AIRPORT NIGHTMARE: PLANE & FIRE TRUCK COLLIDE – TWO DEAD!

AIRPORT NIGHTMARE: PLANE & FIRE TRUCK COLLIDE – TWO DEAD!

The chilling moment of impact has been captured on video: an Air Canada jet, Flight 8646, colliding with a fire truck on the runway at LaGuardia Airport. Despite the truck’s siren blaring, the jet, traveling at 30 miles per hour, struck the vehicle with devastating force.

Tragedy struck as the pilot and co-pilot perished in the crash. The impact sheared off the nose of the Jazz Aviation jet, operated under the Air Canada banner, leaving a scene of twisted metal and shattered glass. The incident unfolded just before 11:40 PM, plunging the airport into chaos.

Leaked audio reveals a frantic air traffic controller taking responsibility for the catastrophic error. Responding to a request from “Truck One” to cross the runway, the controller repeatedly urged them to halt, his voice escalating with each desperate plea: “Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.”

The controller, overwhelmed, then instructed an incoming flight to abort its landing. A moment later, a chilling admission: “I messed up.” He explained they were already managing another emergency, a separate incident involving a United Airlines aircraft reporting an unusual odor, when the error occurred.

Flight 8646 had been traveling from Montreal, carrying 72 passengers and four crew members. Flight-tracker data showed the aircraft was moving at 131 miles per hour just moments before the collision. The impact was so severe, one observer simply stated, “man, that wasn’t good to watch.”

Port Authority officials confirmed the fire truck was responding to that earlier, unrelated incident. The vehicle was rushing to investigate a reported odor on the United flight when it found itself in the path of the landing Air Canada jet.

The FAA and the NTSB have launched a full investigation into the accident. All flights in and out of LaGuardia were grounded, resulting in the cancellation of approximately 400 journeys, disrupting travel for thousands. The airport, normally bustling with nearly 900 daily departures and arrivals, fell silent.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:38 PM, responding to reports of a plane and vehicle collision on the runway. The investigation promises to uncover the precise sequence of events that led to this devastating crash, and to determine how a preventable tragedy unfolded on the tarmac.

A plane carrying dozens of people collided with a fire truck on a runway at New York's LaGuardia airport, killing the pilot and co-pilot and causing "serious injuries" to others, authorities said Monday. Due to the crash late Sunday, US aviation authorities halted all flights at LaGuardia, and the port authority said the airport would stay shut until at least 2:00 pm (1800 GMT) "to allow for a thorough investigation."
