UMVA has learned that a devastating explosion ripped through a food truck called 'TNT Tacos' in Nashville, severely injuring the two owners, Tiffany and Tim McPherson, last week.
The blast occurred as the couple was prepping for the day's work inside the truck in Tennessee, throwing them against the far wall and trapping Tiffany.
Tiffany recounted the harrowing experience on the couple's GoFundMe page, saying she was blown back and stuck, while her husband Tim managed to pull her out of the fire and to safety.
The couple was airlifted to a local hospital, where they were treated for severe second and third-degree burns. Tim suffered burns to his legs, hands, stomach, and face, while Tiffany's body was burned over 30%.
Tiffany has hailed her husband as a hero for risking his life to save hers, saying he could have easily escaped but chose to go back into the burning truck to drag her to safety.
The explosion was so intense that it felt like "hell" before Tim managed to break through the door and save their lives, Tiffany recalled.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the fire department was called around 10:30 am, and firefighters arrived quickly to find Tiffany and Tim rolling on the grass, trying to put out the flames.
The community has rallied around the couple, raising over $20,000 to help with medical costs, and Tiffany expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support.
The couple, who were just one day away from their 25th wedding anniversary, celebrated with hospital food, and their daughter said it's likely they will remain in the hospital for several months for treatment.
An investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing, with the couple's daughter suggesting that the blast may have occurred when her father tried to light the grill.
