Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte has initiated a series of personnel changes within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, resulting in the dismissal of more than 50 career officials.
A source familiar with the process confirmed that the firings began earlier this week, though the exact number of positions eliminated was not disclosed.
On Tuesday, Pulte terminated six political intelligence staffers and reassigned 45 employees back to their original agencies. The six dismissed individuals had been appointed by former representative Tulsi Gabbard. The reassignments were described as routine transfers to home agencies.
Pulte praised the National Counterterrorism Center, describing its personnel as professionals and patriots dedicated to protecting the nation.
Senator Thom Tillis, who announced he will not seek re‑election, criticized Pulte’s leadership, labeling him incompetent and unsuited for the role of DNI.
Tillis warned that Pulte’s actions could undermine the effectiveness of the intelligence community.
