Former President Joe Biden has publicly called Donald Trump a 'loser' amidst the current President's declining approval ratings.
Speaking at a Maryland Democrats gala, Biden launched an attack on Trump's recent 'vanity projects' in the White House and the wider Washington, D.C. area.
Trump's approval rating has dropped to just 30%, the lowest figure recorded in his second term, and Biden criticized his successor's use of funds for various construction works.
The East Wing Modernization Project, which will see the complete demolition and reconstruction of the White House East Wing, is expected to cost $400 million, if not more, and has been met with controversy.
The project involves replacing the historic 90,000-square-foot East Wing structure with a sprawling 1,000-capacity ballroom, sparking concerns over the historical integrity of the White House.
Trump has also spent an extortionate amount on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on the National Mall, which has been marred by controversy.
Ahead of the US's 250th birthday on July 4, Trump had spent over $16 million on the landmark, with critics accusing him of wasting taxpayer funds on vanity projects.
Additionally, a former Olympic athlete was arrested after touching the slime-filled pool, which was recently painted 'American flag blue' by Trump's staff.
David Hearn, 67, was checking out the pool when he noticed part of the blue liner had detached from the pool's bottom, and he was subsequently cuffed and charged with destruction of government property.
Biden touched on these projects in his speech, saying, 'Tearing down the East Wing of the White House, making room for his ballroom? Putting his name on the Kennedy Center. Building an arch in his own honor. Even hiring his own pool guy to fix the reflecting pool.'
He then proclaimed, 'Whoa, what a loser,' to loud cheering from the Democratic attendees, and continued his rant at the current President, accusing him of 'brazen, blatant corruption.'
This was in relation to the reflecting pool, in which a Trump donor was presented with a $1.7m no-bid filtration system contract by the federal government, sparking allegations of corruption.
Biden also claimed that the Trump family as a collective are responsible for 'corruption,' leveraging his position for financial gain, including making merchandise deals and hosting official political events at his properties.
Responding to these allegations at the Democrats' gala, Biden said, 'He has no shame, and frankly it's embarrassing for the country. But Trump? Trump could care less.'
