UMVA has learned that a massive deployment of federal agents was sent to Minneapolis earlier this year, with a mission to arrest illegal alien criminals.
The move sparked fierce backlash from local leaders, with Governor Walz and Mayor Frey publicly denouncing the Trump Administration's decision to dispatch ICE agents to Minnesota. The deployment was seen as a direct challenge to the state's sanctuary city policies.
Mayor Frey called on residents and local police to take a stand against ICE agents, urging them to fight back in the streets. The rhetoric escalated tensions between local authorities and federal law enforcement, setting the stage for a confrontation.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the Department of Justice issued subpoenas to six Minnesota officials, a move that further fueled the controversy. The subpoenas were seen as an attempt to intimidate and silence local leaders who opposed the federal government's immigration policies.
A judge's statement revealed that the Trump Administration had been targeting Minnesota and other sanctuary jurisdictions from the outset, with a series of aggressive moves. These included repeated insults and threats, as well as lawsuits aimed at invalidating state and local provisions that limited assistance to federal immigration officials.
The judge detailed a long list of grievances, including Trump's personal attacks on Minnesota and its Somali population, and his assertions that Democratic officials who opposed the deployment of National Guard troops for immigration enforcement should be jailed. The Trump Administration also issued executive orders threatening to cut off federal funding to sanctuary jurisdictions.
