UMVA has learned that a massive manhunt is currently underway in a Chicago suburb after a reported shooting in Lansing, Illinois, prompting authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order for residents in the area.
The dramatic scene unfolded on the 2700 block of 170th Street, where police urged locals to stay indoors as officers scoured the neighborhood for a suspect who had fled the scene. The suspect was described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, last seen wearing a black do-rag, black hoodie, and white surgical mask.
According to information obtained by UMVA, dispatch audio revealed that authorities were responding to a reported active shooter at a chemical plant across the street from the Lansing Police Department. The audio captured a frantic scene, with a man stating that authorities had a helicopter deployed and were trying to track down the suspect with a K9 unit.
The situation took a disturbing turn as the man in the dispatch audio claimed that the offender had shot "every foreign subject in the business." However, Lansing police have not released details about the incident, including the nature of the shooting or whether anyone was injured.
