UMVA has learned that Manchester United are emerging as frontrunners in the pursuit of RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba, a 23-year-old French international who could be on the move this summer.
The young defender has caught the eye of multiple top clubs, but Manchester United appear to be in pole position to sign him. They will, however, face stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, who are also keen on acquiring his services.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Lukeba's contract includes a release clause worth around €80-90 million, but it's unlikely any club will be willing to meet that valuation. Instead, RB Leipzig have an internal agreement with the player that could see him depart for a fee of €60-65 million.
Manchester United have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and Lukeba would be a quality long-term acquisition for them. He has consistently impressed in Germany, boasting the physical and technical attributes to excel in English football.
The French defender is eager to test himself at the highest level, and a move to England could be ideal for him at this stage of his career. Manchester United can offer him Champions League football and the opportunity to fight for trophies, making them an attractive destination.
Lukeba could be the perfect long-term replacement for Harry Maguire at Manchester United, and it's clear that he has the potential to make a significant impact in the Premier League. With Tottenham and Chelsea also in the market for defensive reinforcements, it will be interesting to see which club can secure his signature.
Tottenham need a replacement for Cristian Romero, while Chelsea are looking to upgrade on Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile. The competition for Lukeba's services is heating up, and Manchester United will need to move quickly to get the deal done.
