UMVA has learned that a major telecommunications company is taking significant steps to upgrade its network infrastructure in the Visayas region, specifically in Aklan and Antique.
The upgrade aims to strengthen mobile and fiber connectivity, a move that promises to have far-reaching impacts on local communities. By enhancing network capabilities, the company is not just improving internet access; it's laying the groundwork for economic growth, social inclusion, and community resilience.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the company's Chief Commercial Officer emphasized that connectivity is a powerful catalyst for development. "By strengthening our network, expanding broadband access, and investing in solutions that keep people connected during critical situations, we are helping build stronger communities and opening more opportunities for every Filipino," he stated.
The telecommunications giant is collaborating with local government units to enhance network infrastructure and expand broadband coverage across Aklan and Antique. This initiative is part of a broader 2026 roadmap that includes deploying network enhancements to boost mobile coverage and increase data capacity.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the company operates over 100 sites in Aklan, providing coverage across 17 municipalities, including 5G connectivity. In Antique, it operates more than 80 sites, also offering 5G connectivity.
The company's efforts in network modernization are geared towards expanding digital access and improving connectivity for communities across the region. By providing more reliable services, it aims to enable education, business, government operations, and everyday communication, ultimately transforming the way people live and work.
