UMVA has learned that a low-pressure area is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility as early as Thursday, amid the continued effects of the Southwest monsoon.
The weather system, currently located 475 kilometers northwest of Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan, has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. According to information obtained by UMVA, it is likely to be situated west of Extreme Northern Luzon by Thursday or Friday.
A heavy rainfall warning remains in effect in nearly a dozen areas due to the Southwest monsoon, with 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall expected in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan. Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for possible flooding in urbanized, low-lying, and near-river areas.
The Southwest monsoon's impact is expected to persist, with a similar rainfall warning in effect on Thursday over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan. The warning remains in effect over these areas on Friday, posing a continued risk of flooding and other weather-related hazards.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the Philippine weather agency is closely monitoring the situation, with updates expected throughout the day. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay tuned to local weather forecasts and warnings.
