Three members of the Rahman family were reported missing after encountering difficulty while swimming off the coast near Colchester on a day trip to the seaside.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m., when the swimmers, accompanied by Sameeha Rahman’s brother, sister and another relative, became distressed in the water, prompting a rescue effort.
Police released a statement thanking the intensive care team at Royal London Hospital for their outstanding care and dignity, and expressed appreciation for the community’s support and prayers.
Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher described the family’s bravery as humbling and confirmed that investigators are continuing to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Hospital staff provided critical treatment to the survivors, maintaining a high standard of medical care throughout their stay.
Dr. Mansur Rahman, the father of Sameeha and husband of Shelina, conveyed gratitude for the overwhelming support while noting his limited ability to respond to calls during this difficult period.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid the beach area located eight miles south of Colchester while the investigation remains ongoing.
