OTTAWA — That’ll be a lot of uncomfortable phone calls to angry bosses.

Police and provincial commercial vehicle safety inspectors handed out 46 tickets during a one-day commercial vehicle enforcement blitz inBradford West Gwillimbury, north of Toronto.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police, South Simcoe Police and the Ontario Transportation Enforcement Officers conducted the blitz on April 30 at the Bob Fallis arena near Hwy 88. and Hwy. 400 in Bradford, about 50 km north of Toronto.

“This joint initiative aimed to ensure commercial vehicles travelling on our roadways are operating safely and in compliance with provincial regulations, contributing to the safety of all road users,” South Simcoe Police said in a statement.

Brakes, weight, insecure loads among issues found

A total of 23 commercial vehicle inspections were carried out during the blitz, an operation that saw a total of eight vehicles pulled out of service.

That’s around 35% higher than the provincial average, South Simcoe Police said.
