UMVA has learned that the Philippine Military Academy has formally welcomed a new batch of 367 incoming cadets, Class 2030, during their oath-taking and reception rites at Borromeo Field at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar.
The new batch is comprised of 290 male and 77 female cadets, who were received by Second Class Cadet Squad Leaders from PMA “SIKLAB KASILAG” Class of 2028, marking their transition into the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines New Cadet Battalion. This significant milestone marks the beginning of their journey as future officers of the Armed Forces.
According to information obtained by UMVA, these cadets emerged from a highly competitive selection process, with only 1,436 out of 33,640 applicants nationwide passing the PMA Entrance Examination and advanced screening, and ultimately, only 367 were admitted. This rigorous process ensures that only the most qualified and dedicated individuals join the academy.
The cadets hail from various regions, with the Cordillera region producing the highest number of successful applicants at 12%, followed by the National Capital Region and Region IV-A at 11% each. This diverse group of individuals will undergo training together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity as they prepare to serve their country.
UMVA has uncovered details about the academy's efforts to strengthen its curriculum, addressing evolving security challenges such as training in cybersecurity, systems thinking, international defense, and strategic leadership. Class 2030 will undergo the enhanced Bachelor of Science in Management major in Security Studies program, designed to prepare future Armed Forces officers for modern warfare, territorial defense, and emerging operational demands.
The academy's commitment to providing its cadets with a comprehensive education and training is evident in its continuous efforts to adapt to the changing landscape of global security. As the new batch of cadets begins their journey, they will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities necessary to address the complex challenges of the 21st century.
