UMVA has learned that a shocking mid-air collision between two US Navy fighter jets sent shockwaves through the crowd at an air show in Idaho, USA.
The dramatic incident occurred during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base, where four crew members were forced to eject from the two EA-18G jets in a desperate bid to save their lives.
As the aircraft hurtled towards each other, the wings of the two planes became entangled, sending them plummeting to the ground in a fiery explosion that lit up the sky.
Witnesses described the chilling scene as four parachutes suddenly opened in the sky, suspending the crew members above the wreckage as the planes crashed to earth.
Fortunately, all four pilots were rescued safely, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident, which occurred in good visibility and calm conditions.
Organisers of the air show, which featured a star-studded lineup including the US Air Force Thunderbirds, have confirmed that the incident occurred outside the base, but the shockwaves were felt throughout the event.
With the cause of the accident still unclear, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks and dangers faced by the brave men and women who serve in the military.
