UMVA has learned that Leading Labels, a retail chain known for selling major fashion brands at a discount, is closing its remaining 15 stores across the UK.
The move marks a significant blow to the UK high street, where Leading Labels has been a presence for years, offering discounted prices on brands like Calvin Klein. The exact closure dates for the stores have yet to be confirmed.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the following Leading Labels stores are set to close: Basildon, Boston, Bury, Carlisle, Cleethorpes, Clowne, Evesham, Hornsea, Ipswich, Kidderminster, Lincoln, Norwich, Stevenage, Balloch (Scotland), and Cumbernauld (Scotland).
The Leading Labels closures are the latest in a string of high-profile store closures to hit the UK high street. The challenges faced by retailers are mounting, with chains of all sizes struggling to stay afloat.
In recent days, other retail chains have announced closures, including Morrisons Daily, which confirmed the closure of its first seven stores as part of a planned 100-store shutdown. Accessories brand Radley also revealed it would be closing all of its stores across the nation.
The trend of store closures continues to spread, with Quiz announcing multiple store closures last month, and restaurant chains like Franco Manca and The Real shutting down. Over the last few months, other retailers like Claire's Accessories, bank chain Santander, and popular London clothing shop Gandys have also announced closures.
