Former MSNBC host and prominent left-wing commentator Mehdi Hasan made headlines recently with his candid comments about European civilization.
During a podcast appearance, Hasan responded to calls to have his American citizenship stripped, which he was granted in 2020.
"People tell me to go back to the [United Kingdom], because they think the UK is some Muslim hellhole dystopia run by Muslims... I wish," he said.
Hasan also expressed frustration over the fact that the Portuguese-themed restaurant Nando's does not serve halal food in the United States.
"I've talked about this on this show before: Nandos is halal in the UK; it is not halal in the United States of America," he explained.
Hasan's comments come after he faced criticism for his previous statements on the mass rape of British girls by Pakistani men, which he described as "bullshit" designed to whip up hatred against Muslims.
Last month, Hasan accused media outlets of inciting violence against Muslims and emboldening extremists, following the release of a report on the abuse of white girls by Muslim men.
Hasan was pulled off air by MSNBC in early 2024 after bosses became concerned about his vocal support for Hamas.
His comments on European civilization and the treatment of Muslims in the US have sparked a heated debate, with some accusing him of hypocrisy and others defending his right to free speech.
The controversy surrounding Hasan's comments is the latest in a series of high-profile incidents involving prominent figures and their views on Islam and European society.
