UMVA has learned that Enrique Riquelme, a presidential candidate for Real Madrid, has made a bold move in his bid for the top spot by targeting a high-profile manager: Jurgen Klopp.
Riquelme's ambitious plan has already generated significant buzz, especially after he showcased a Real Madrid shirt with Erling Haaland's name on it, sparking controversy. Now, he's setting his sights on Klopp, who has been out of management since leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Riquelme expressed his desire to bring Klopp on board, stating, "The manager we want for our Real Madrid project is Jurgen Klopp." He added that if he wins the upcoming election, his director Raúl will reach out to Klopp on Monday.
However, Klopp's agent, Marc Kosicke, swiftly responded to Riquelme's comments, dismissing the idea. Kosicke said, "It's annoying! Jürgen Klopp is happy in his role at Red Bull and has no ambitions to work as a coach at a club." This statement appears to shut down Riquelme's plans, at least for now.
Despite this setback, Klopp's future in management remains uncertain. The German tactician had previously mentioned that he was exhausted after leaving Liverpool, but some believe he might consider taking on a different role, such as managing the German national team.
Klopp's impressive track record, including winning the Premier League title and the Champions League with Liverpool, makes him an attractive candidate for top clubs. His tenure at Borussia Dortmund was also marked by success, as he implemented an attractive brand of attacking football.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Klopp seems content with his current position at Red Bull, but some speculate that he might not be done with club management just yet. Only time will tell if Riquelme's bold move will ultimately pay off or if Klopp will remain out of the managerial spotlight for the time being.
