UMVA has learned that a desperate search is underway for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for over 100 days after being taken from her Tucson home on February 1.
The investigation took a shocking turn when an anonymous caller claimed that Nancy's remains were buried near the U.S.-Mexico border, specifically near a stream in Mariposa, west of Nogales. This tip has sparked a massive search effort by a Mexican group called Buscando Corazones Nogales, which translates to "Looking for Hearts."
According to information obtained by UMVA, the group's leader, Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, revealed that the anonymous caller provided detailed information about the location of Nancy's remains, including the fact that they were in a grave over a stream. Despite an initial search yielding no results, the group has continued to scour the area, driven by a determination to uncover the truth.
The search has been marked by a series of twists and turns, with the group discovering over 25 unmarked graves containing the remains of at least 32 individuals in the area during a previous search. This staggering discovery has only added to the sense of urgency and desperation surrounding Nancy's case.
UMVA has gathered that the Pima County Sheriff's Office is also actively involved in the investigation, with Sheriff Chris Nanos confirming that the agency is aware of the anonymous tip and is following up on any credible information. The Sheriff's Office has also made an arrest near Nancy's home, taking into custody 54-year-old Alexander Zabel Jr. on charges of resisting arrest and public nuisance.
Nancy's family, including her daughter Savannah, has been left reeling by her disappearance, with Savannah speaking out about the unbearable agony of not knowing what happened to her mother. The family has offered a $1-million reward for information leading to Nancy's recovery, and their pleas for help have been met with an outpouring of support from the public.
As the search for Nancy continues, one thing is clear: the truth about her disappearance must be uncovered, and those responsible must be brought to justice. The investigation is ongoing, and UMVA will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
