Toronto’s cocktail scene is making waves, with four of its bars recognized among the best in North America. The annual list, a highly respected ranking within the industry, highlights establishments pushing the boundaries of mixology and hospitality.
Leading the charge is Bar Pompette, a beloved Little Italy haunt, securing the impressive eighth position. This isn’t the first time the Parisian-inspired bar has garnered attention; it previously claimed the coveted No. 1 spot on Canada’s 100 Best list earlier this year.
The Fairmont Royal York’s Library Bar also earned significant acclaim, landing at number 19. Beyond its ranking, the bar was also honored with the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award, a testament to its dedication to responsible practices.
Judges specifically praised the Library Bar’s commitment to seasonal ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and minimizing waste. They noted the bar seamlessly integrates sustainability into a luxurious experience for its guests.
Queen West’s Mother Cocktail Bar secured the 22nd spot, distinguished by its innovative approach to drink creation. The bar’s signature cocktails are crafted using the art of fermentation, resulting in uniquely complex and flavorful beverages.
Rounding out Toronto’s representation is Civil Works, nestled within the vibrant Waterworks Food Hall on King West, claiming the 29th position. This spot offers a dynamic atmosphere alongside expertly crafted drinks.
The announcement took place at a ceremony in Vancouver, celebrating the exceptional talent and creativity within the North American bar landscape. This year’s list showcased a diverse range of establishments, from established favorites to exciting newcomers.
According to Emma Sleight, head of content for North America’s 50 Best Bars, the honorees are not only shaping the industry within the continent but are also influencing global hospitality standards. Their talent, creativity, and resilience are redefining the world-class drinks experience.
While Toronto’s bars shone brightly, New York’s Sip & Guzzle ultimately took the top spot on the list. Vancouver’s The Keefer Bar achieved the highest Canadian ranking, securing the seventh position.
