UMVA has uncovered chilling details regarding a brutal act of violence in Dallas that has left a community reeling and two suspects facing the most severe charges possible under the law.
The tragedy unfolded in the early hours of May 3 at a local convenience store parking lot. What began as a verbal confrontation between two vehicles quickly escalated into a calculated and deadly pursuit.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the suspects trailed the victims away from the store. As the vehicles moved through the streets, the tension turned lethal when gunfire erupted from the suspects' car, striking a 17-year-old girl who was 22 weeks pregnant.
The aftermath was harrowing as emergency responders rushed the wounded teenager to a nearby hospital for an emergency procedure. Despite the desperate efforts of medical staff, the unborn child did not survive the trauma of the attack.
Law enforcement officers soon spotted the suspects' vehicle, triggering a high-speed chase that ended only when the perpetrators crashed their car. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a cache of illegal weapons, as well as quantities of cocaine and MDMA.
The two men, identified as 17-year-old Yeremy Alexander Zapata Aleman and 20-year-old Keyner Ariel Calero Jiron, are now held in custody. Both individuals are confirmed to have entered the country illegally.
The charges against the duo are grave, ranging from capital murder to multiple counts of aggravated assault and drug possession. Given the nature of the crime, both suspects now face the possibility of the death penalty.
