ACEN UNLEASHES $85M WIND POWER MEGA-DEAL IN INDIA!

A surge of fresh capital – 7.517 billion Indian rupees – is poised to fuel a significant expansion of renewable energy in India. This substantial investment will directly support a 120-megawatt wind power project located in Karnataka, promising a cleaner energy future for the region.

The funding, secured from leading Japanese financial institutions Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., demonstrates a powerful vote of confidence in the project’s viability and the developer’s expertise. This financial backing will initially focus on the first 100-megawatt phase of the ambitious Bijapur Wind project.

Expected to be fully operational by 2027, the Bijapur Wind project is projected to deliver approximately 330 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year. This clean energy generation will simultaneously prevent an estimated 300,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.

This initiative directly aligns with India’s national goal of achieving 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by the year 2030. The project isn’t just about generating power; it’s about actively contributing to a nationwide shift towards sustainability and energy independence.

The electricity generated will be supplied to SJVN Ltd., a state-owned Indian firm, through a long-term power purchase agreement, ensuring a stable and reliable energy source. This partnership solidifies the project’s long-term impact and financial security.

The development signifies a strategic focus on scalable, high-quality projects that deliver tangible benefits to India’s clean energy transition. Beyond environmental impact, the project is designed to create lasting value within the local communities it serves.

Recent moves to consolidate control over its Indian operations further demonstrate a long-term commitment to the region. The acquisition of remaining stakes in a joint venture now allows for full ownership of Unlimited Renewables Holdings B.V., a company developing a substantial 1,059 MW portfolio of renewable projects.

India currently represents a significant portion – 40% – of the company’s international renewable energy capacity. This is built upon an existing foundation of three operational solar power projects already contributing 630 MW of clean energy to the national grid.

Across a diverse international portfolio spanning the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, and the United States, the company manages a total attributable renewable energy capacity of 7 gigawatts. This global reach underscores a dedication to driving sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
