A political rally in Florida erupted into chaos Saturday, culminating in the arrest of a local Democratic Party leader. Brian Stewart, chairman of the Hernando County Democratic Party, now faces a misdemeanor battery charge following an altercation with a man at a “No Kings” protest in Spring Hill.
The incident began as counter-protesters confronted a public official, and Stewart reportedly attempted to intervene. Witnesses say Stewart used a megaphone, even after a counter-protester expressed concern about potential hearing damage from the loud siren.
The situation escalated when a liquid was poured into the megaphone. Authorities allege Stewart then struck the man who poured the liquid, using the megaphone as a weapon. The victim, identified as a disabled veteran, reported pain and displayed a visible lump on his head.
