UMVA has learned that Toronto Police are on the hunt for information to identify a male homicide victim whose body was discovered in a downtown parking lot over the weekend.
The shocking crime scene unfolded on Saturday at around 9:30 a.m. in the Dundas-Seaton Sts. area of Cabbagetown, where officers responded to a medical complaint and found an unresponsive person in a laneway inside a private garage.
The victim had obvious signs of trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, with a post-mortem examination later ruling that the death was the result of a homicide. The police were left with a puzzling case, and a desperate appeal for information.
In a surprising twist, police initially made an error in identifying the victim as a woman, but later confirmed that the victim is actually a male, approximately 5-foot-6 with a medium build, dark hair, and dark eyes, possibly of Asian descent.
To aid in the identification, police released two crucial images: a silver necklace with a heart-shaped pendant featuring wings and a clear stone, and a black jacket with a distinctive logo from the Vision Youth Leaders Program.
The Vision Youth logo on the jacket suggests a possible connection to a Markham-based organization that aims to help youth develop life skills, but police have not confirmed any link.
This homicide marks the 10th of the year in Toronto, and police are urging anyone with information about the victim's identity or the investigation to come forward and contact them at 416-808-5100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
