Arsenal are leading the charge to sign Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers this summer, with the 23-year-old midfielder reportedly at the top of their transfer wish list.
According to reports, Chelsea and Manchester City are also in the running for Rogers' signature, but Arsenal are confident of beating their rivals to the punch.
The Gunners have accelerated their pursuit of Rogers, who has been exceptional for Aston Villa, helping the club win the UEFA Europa League last season and securing Champions League qualification.
The midfielder has been a key player for Aston Villa, producing 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, and has impressed with his versatility, able to operate as an attacking midfielder or wide player.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has personally been in touch with Rogers, and the player has been won over by his pitch, but it remains to be seen whether Aston Villa will sanction his departure.
Rogers is expected to be a costly acquisition, with a price tag of over £100 million, but Arsenal have the financial resources to get the deal done, having won the Premier League title last season.
The club is looking to assemble a squad that will dominate English football in the coming seasons, and Rogers could be the missing piece of the puzzle, bringing creativity and goal-scoring ability from midfield.
Chelsea, meanwhile, could also benefit from signing Rogers, especially if Enzo Fernandez leaves the club, as they seek to replace his creative output.
