The niece of a notorious figure once considered one of the world’s most dangerous men is now facing a desperate situation. Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, relative of the late Qasem Soleimani, is pleading for help from an unlikely source: a former boyfriend she allegedly tormented for years.
Just days ago, Afshar, 47, and her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25, were arrested at their Los Angeles home. Their comfortable life in America abruptly ended when their green cards were revoked, a consequence of openly supporting the Iranian regime and celebrating attacks against U.S. forces.
Authorities discovered a pattern of behavior that included inflammatory rhetoric against the United States, labeling it the “Great Satan,” and actively spreading propaganda online. This brazen display of allegiance to a hostile nation, while enjoying the benefits of American life, ultimately led to their detention.
Now held in an ICE facility in Texas, Afshar reportedly contacted Maziar Aflaki, 68, her former partner, in a frantic attempt to secure her release. The call, however, was met with a chillingly cold response.
Aflaki refused to take the call, citing years of alleged harassment and abuse. He described a manipulative personality, one that could portray innocence while leaving others feeling vilified. “She scares me,” he stated, revealing a deep-seated fear of Afshar’s controlling nature.
He recounted a period beginning in 2016 where Afshar relentlessly pursued a relationship despite his repeated rejections. Aflaki explicitly asked her to leave him alone, but his pleas were ignored, painting a picture of a woman determined to get what she wanted, regardless of the cost to others.
The irony is stark. Aflaki once wished for someone to intervene and remove Afshar from his life. Now, that wish has been granted, but under circumstances neither of them could have predicted – with Afshar facing deportation and Aflaki wanting nothing to do with her plight.
Afshar had previously flaunted her lavish lifestyle on social media, a stark contrast to her current predicament. The arrest and subsequent detention mark a dramatic fall from grace for a woman who openly aligned herself with a regime hostile to the nation that once welcomed her.
