Former President Clinton Weighs in on Midterm Elections Amid Growing Momentum for Progressive Candidates

Former President Bill Clinton has expressed confidence in the Democratic Party's prospects ahead of the midterm elections, despite the recent victories of three socialist candidates in key New York primaries.

Clinton stated that he believes the Democratic Party is in "good shape" to be successful in November's elections, according to an interview with Fox News Digital.

The victories by Darializa Avila Chevalier, Brad Lander, and Claire Valdez, all backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, have sparked debate within the Democratic Party over the merits of progressive campaigns.

Clinton appeared unfazed by the results, despite having previously aligned himself with more moderate Democrats in New York politics.

Last year, Clinton endorsed former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary, over socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who won the nomination.

The latest primary results come as Democrats continue to grapple with the party's ideological direction, with some embracing the new wave of socialism and others cautioning against embracing it as the party's national brand.

Clinton declined to comment on the Iran situation during the interview, dodging a question about the fragile peace deal between the United States and Iran.

Tensions surrounding Iran remain high, with the U.S. launching strikes against Iranian targets following a commercial vessel attack in the Strait of Hormuz.
