BUSTED: Missouri Store's Secret Gambling Empire EXPOSED!

BUSTED: Missouri Store's Secret Gambling Empire EXPOSED!

A quiet convenience store in Brookline, Missouri, has become the focal point of a sweeping crackdown on illegal gambling. Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has filed felony charges and launched a civil lawsuit against Himanshu B. Patel, the managing officer of Briarwood One Stop, alleging a deliberate scheme to profit from unlicensed gaming machines.

The investigation revealed customers were allegedly able to gamble within the store, utilizing devices that operated outside the bounds of state law. Hanaway stated that businesses choosing to host such operations prioritize financial gain over the safety and well-being of their communities, a stance her office is determined to challenge.

Prosecutors have brought two felony counts of first-degree promoting gambling against Patel, alongside a civil action directly targeting Briarwood One Stop. The charges stem from a period between March 5th and March 12th, 2026, where Patel is accused of knowingly profiting from the illegal activity.

Evidence suggests Patel operated video gambling machines that processed over $100 in wagers daily, and on at least one occasion, collected more than $100 from multiple machines in a single day. A conviction on these Class E felonies could result in up to four years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The civil case paints a picture of a store deliberately operating “unlicensed and unregulated gambling machines.” Court documents detail the presence of twelve electronic devices, allowing customers to play and immediately cash out their winnings on-site, a clear violation of Missouri law.

State attorneys argue this setup not only breaks the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act but also constitutes a public nuisance. The Attorney General’s Office is seeking a court order to immediately halt gambling at the location, declare the property a nuisance, and potentially force the business to close for up to a year.

This case is part of a larger, statewide initiative to dismantle illegal gaming operations. A recent wave of enforcement has already led to the removal of numerous machines across Missouri, with state leaders actively targeting businesses that continue to host them.

Recent court rulings have further solidified the state’s position, including a federal decision that deemed certain slot machines illegal due to their reliance on chance. The Attorney General’s Office issued a stark warning to operators across the state: unplug the devices, shut them down, and remove them immediately.

While the charges against Patel remain allegations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the case underscores a firm commitment to enforcing the law and protecting Missouri communities from the risks associated with illegal gambling. Both the criminal and civil proceedings are currently underway in Greene County Circuit Court.
