UMVA has learned that six Chinese nationals cloaked in full camouflage were seized as they tried to slip across the southern border on a private ranch in Maverick County.
Under the cover of night, U.S. Border Patrol agents, aided by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and K‑9 units, launched a swift operation that netted the six individuals along with six others from a larger group of twelve illegal entrants.
The captured Chinese nationals were classified as Special Interest Aliens, a status that triggers intensive security screening due to potential national‑security concerns.
Authorities say the remaining detainees hailed from Mexico, Guatemala, India, Ecuador and Cuba, highlighting the diverse composition of the broader smuggling network.
Operation Lone Star, the relentless state‑wide crackdown, played a pivotal role as Texas DPS troopers and their trained dogs tracked the fugitives across the sprawling ranch terrain.
In a statement, the governor praised the coordinated effort, emphasizing that the border enforcement push remains “nonstop” and that such arrests are vital to safeguarding the region.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the K‑9 team and its handler followed a precise scent trail, locating the hidden group and preventing them from vanishing into the night.
The dramatic seizure underscores the heightened vigilance at the border and the lengths to which authorities will go to intercept those who seek to evade detection.
