The high-profile music festival HeritageLive has been cancelled at the last minute, despite featuring a star-studded lineup of performers including Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, and Janet Jackson.
The event was set to take place at historic estates in the UK, including the Audley End estate, Englefield Estate, and the Sandringham Estate, but organizers have cited "far lower than average" interest in ticket sales as the reason for the cancellation.
Organizers expressed their "devastation" at the decision, stating that they had been working hard to secure an investment and equity package to help the festival succeed, but ultimately found it impossible to proceed without certainty that they could meet all of their costs.
Rising expenses and a crowded festival scene were also cited as contributing factors to the cancellation, with organizers describing the current festival market as "increasingly saturated."
The canceled festival would have featured performances from a range of music legends, including Ricky Martin, Craig David, Blue, Eric Clapton, Sugababes, Olly Alexander, Ronnie Wood, and Soul II Soul, as well as comedy acts such as Russell Howard, Tom Allen, and Josh Widdicombe.
Ticketholders who purchased their tickets through reputable agents (AXS, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Gigantic, Skiddle, or Ticketline) will have their refunds generated automatically within a reasonable period, and organizers are urging past attendees to look back on the festival with fond memories.
Despite the cancellation, organizers expressed their gratitude to fans and performers, saying that they had had many "awesome and magical moments" over the years and hoped that these memories would remain in their hearts forever.
