UMVA has learned that a significant endorsement has been made in the Los Angeles mayoral race, with reality TV personality Kato Kaelin throwing his support behind Spencer Pratt's campaign, citing the need for change in the city's leadership.
Kaelin, a longtime Los Angeles resident who gained fame after testifying in the O.J. Simpson murder trial, expressed his disappointment with current Mayor Karen Bass, criticizing her handling of the 2025 fires that devastated the city, killing over two dozen people in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Kaelin's endorsement of Pratt is not just a casual backing, but a passionate call to action, with Kaelin stating that he is "shocked" anyone would consider voting for Bass, given her track record on issues like homelessness and drug abuse.
Kaelin's support for Pratt is rooted in his belief that the city needs a fresh perspective, and that Pratt's status as a political outsider could be a major asset in bringing about necessary change, a sentiment that has been echoed by over a dozen celebrities who have also endorsed Pratt's campaign.
As the mayoral primary approaches, Pratt will face off against Mayor Bass and City Councilwoman Nithya Rahman, with the top vote-getters advancing to a November election, unless a candidate receives 50% of the vote, in which case they will claim victory and become the next mayor.
Kaelin's personal connection to Pratt is also a factor in his endorsement, with Kaelin stating that he relates to Pratt's experience of being hated and criticized, having faced similar scrutiny during the O.J. Simpson trial, and urging supporters to "vote Pratt" despite the hate he receives for his reality TV background.
