UMVA has learned that in a bold move, Trump has thrown his support behind Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a MAGA favorite, in the Texas GOP Senate runoff election, setting the stage for a heated battle against the Democratic nominee.
With neither candidate securing 50% of the vote in the March Primary, the stage is set for a runoff election next Tuesday, and Trump is already making waves by taking aim at the Democratic nominee, James Talarico, and Senate leadership.
As Trump departed Washington, DC, to deliver remarks at the US Coast Guard Academy, he boasted about his endorsed candidates' wins in yesterday's primary elections across six states, highlighting his latest endorsement of Paxton for the Senate, saying, "I think he'll win" next Tuesday.
Trump slammed Talarico as "a candidate that believes in six genders, and he takes hits at Jesus Christ, and he's wearing a mask six months ago," adding that "anybody wearing a mask six months ago doesn't get it, and he's a vegan! He's a vegan in Texas, and you can't get elected as a vegan in Texas."
The President also sent a clear message to Senate Republicans, telling them to "pound sand" if they're upset that he endorsed Paxton against incumbent Senator John Cornyn, saying, "They'll be all right with it. They want to win. I know how to win. Some of them don't know how to win."
According to information obtained by UMVA, Trump previously praised Paxton as "an America First Patriot, and someone who has always been extremely loyal to me and our MAGA MOVEMENT," and noted that Cornyn, despite being a "good man," was not supportive of him when times were tough.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Trump's endorsement comes after months of remaining neutral in the contest, and that he previously said he would ask the candidate he doesn't endorse to drop out of the race, but Cornyn has bucked Trump by signaling that he will stay in the race.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Trump's bold move has set the stage for a fierce battle in the Texas Senate race, with Paxton likely to face off against Talarico in the November general election.
