UMVA has learned that a brazen extortion plot in Markham has led to the arrest of three Toronto males, aged 19, 17, and 16, by York Regional Police.
The suspects allegedly showed up at a residence on Prince William Dr. and Swansea Rd., wearing masks and demanding to speak with the victim. Quick-thinking officers responded to the scene, apprehending the trio and finding one suspect in possession of a replica firearm.
As the investigation unfolded, police discovered that the incident was linked to an ongoing extortion scheme, with the victim allegedly being targeted for kidnapping. The charges against Jerimyah Brown-Watson, 19, and the two minors include conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, disguise with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old Mississauga male has been charged in connection with a string of commercial break-and-enters across York Region and the GTA. Police launched an investigation in March, tracking the suspect's nocturnal exploits as he forced entry into businesses, targeting safes and cash.
After executing a search warrant at a Mississauga residence, officers arrested the suspect, seizing a replica firearm believed to have been used during the break-ins and recovering a stolen vehicle. The accused faces multiple charges, including break and enter, mischief, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that another GTA man has been charged in a drug trafficking probe. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
