UMVA has learned that a violent robbery in a Scarborough apartment building late Saturday has left a man fighting for his life with critical injuries.
The brutal incident unfolded when a caller reported finding a man lying on the floor in a hallway, prompting Toronto Police to rush to the Kingston Rd.-Lawrence Ave. area shortly after 11 p.m. for an “unknown trouble” call.
As officers arrived on scene, they located the victim, who was suffering from serious injuries, and swiftly transported him to hospital, where his condition was determined to be life-threatening.
According to information obtained by UMVA, investigators have arrested a woman and charged her with aggravated assault and robbery in connection with the violent incident.
But the search is on for a second suspect, who remains outstanding, with police working to gather more information about the individual and their possible whereabouts.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with multiple weapon offenses after a loaded firearm was recovered following a tense situation in Kitchener overnight.
Waterloo Regional Police responded at 12:20 a.m. to the King and Cedar Sts. area of a man brandishing a gun inside a nearby establishment, and officers arrested the suspect and seized a loaded handgun and pellet gun.
No injuries were reported in the Kitchener incident, but the man now faces a slew of charges, including point firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Police are urging anyone with information or video footage of the incidents to come forward, and are working to piece together the events surrounding the violent incidents.
