BUS ATTACK & GUN DRAMA: Manhunt Intensifies!

A disturbing incident unfolded on a Markham bus Monday morning, leaving authorities searching for an unidentified man. The suspect allegedly approached a young woman on board and assaulted her in what appears to have been a completely unprovoked attack.

The assault occurred near Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard, just south of Highway 407, around 7:20 a.m. While thankfully the young woman did not sustain any physical injuries, the emotional impact of such an encounter is undoubtedly significant.

Police have released images of the suspect, hoping the public can help identify him. He is described as approximately 30 years old, standing around 5-foot-8 with a tan complexion. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and carrying a Walmart shopping bag.

Meanwhile, in Mississauga, a routine traffic stop took a dangerous turn on March 6th. Officers investigating a vehicle near Mid-Way Boulevard and Dixie Road uncovered a loaded handgun during a search.

The occupants – a 19-year-old man and three teenage boys – now face a multitude of charges. Initial investigations revealed violations of both the Cannabis Control Act and the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, escalating quickly with the discovery of the illegal weapon.

Iheem Mitchell, 19, of Brampton, along with three 16-year-old boys from Toronto, are charged with a range of offenses including possession of prohibited firearms, unauthorized ammunition, and careless storage of a weapon. One of the teens also faces a charge of carrying a concealed weapon, and another is accused of violating court orders.

These arrests highlight the growing concern surrounding illegal firearms and their presence within communities. The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents the identification of the teenage suspects involved in this case.

Elsewhere, investigations continue into a suspected hate-motivated attack targeting a Muslim woman, and a robbery involving a high-value trading card in North York. A second arrest has also been made in connection with a deadly shooting in the city’s Entertainment District from 2025.

Anyone with information regarding the bus assault in Markham is urged to contact York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, extension 7241. For the Mississauga handgun case, please call 905-453-2121, extension 1233. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
