Rep. Ayanna Pressley announced she is focusing on the victim after an 18‑year‑old woman was found dead in a Boston home owned by her husband.
The victim, identified by family as Yoseliani Marte, died from a single gunshot wound; authorities have not released further details or confirmed any arrests.
Pressley, whose husband Conan Harris owns the two‑family rental property in the Mattapan neighborhood, said her thoughts are with the family and emphasized the need to center the victim.
The house is a rental property listed for sale at $1.15 million and is not the primary residence of Pressley or her husband.
The family has described the death as resulting from domestic violence and indicated they believe they know who may be responsible.
Pressley’s office clarified that neither the congresswoman nor her family were involved in the incident and extended condolences to those affected.
Boston police continue to investigate the manner of death, and no suspect has been publicly identified.
The victim’s mother expressed determination to seek justice, stating that all facts will eventually emerge.
