Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is reportedly on the hunt for a new midfielder, with the team's scouts believed to be keeping a close eye on German international Felix Nmecha.
Nmecha has been in scintillating form, and his impressive display has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Manchester United, who are said to be willing to spend big to secure his services.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has endorsed Nmecha's potential, stating that the midfielder's exceptional performance could make him a highly prized asset.
Neville believes that Nmecha's skills and abilities could fetch him a hefty price tag, potentially exceeding £100 million, and that Manchester United may need to look elsewhere to find suitable alternatives.
Manchester United are facing stiff competition from Newcastle United, who are also keen on signing Nmecha and have reportedly been quoted a buy-out price of £75.5 million.
Newcastle's interest in Nmecha is not surprising, given the team's history of splashing out on top talent, including a reported £100 million bid for Sandro Tonali, who is expected to leave St James' Park this summer.
The Italian midfielder's sale could provide Newcastle with additional funds to pursue Nmecha, although the team are said to be hesitant to meet the reported €85 million buy-out clause in his Dortmund contract.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also believed to be interested in signing Nmecha, although the team's £55 million bid has been rejected by Newcastle, who are determined to hold onto their Brazilian captain Bruno Guimaraes.
