NEBRASKA NIGHTMARE: Deranged Woman ATTACKS Child – Cops Forced to FIRE!

NEBRASKA NIGHTMARE: Deranged Woman ATTACKS Child – Cops Forced to FIRE!

A Tuesday morning at an Omaha Walmart transformed into a scene of unimaginable terror, a desperate race against time to save a three-year-old boy named Cyler.

Noemi Guzman, 31, violently abducted Cyler from his caretaker within the store, escalating the situation with a stolen butcher knife. She then slashed the defenseless child across his face and head, a shocking act of brutality unfolding in broad daylight.

Police arrived to a rapidly unfolding crisis, confronting Guzman as she held the child hostage. Repeated commands to drop the weapon were ignored, replaced by continued threats and a vicious attack on the young boy.

Two Omaha police officers, faced with an immediate and lethal threat, acted decisively. They discharged their firearms, striking Guzman and ending the immediate danger to Cyler’s life.

Bystanders and the child’s guardian immediately rushed to Cyler’s aid, providing crucial first response until paramedics arrived. He was transported to Children’s Hospital, his injuries thankfully considered non-life-threatening.

Investigators quickly pieced together the harrowing events, revealing Guzman had shoplifted the knife and then forced Cyler’s guardian to walk ahead of her, effectively kidnapping the toddler as they moved through the store and into the parking lot.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer praised the officers’ swift and courageous actions, stating they intervened with “professionalism and direct action” to save a child’s life. The city’s mayor echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for the department’s quick response.

But as details emerged, a chilling question arose: could this tragedy have been prevented? A deeper investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of violent behavior in Guzman’s past.

Records show Guzman had previously attacked her own father with a knife, set his home ablaze, and broken into a church rectory while a priest barricaded himself inside. These weren’t isolated incidents, but a documented history of escalating violence.

Despite the severity of these crimes, Guzman was released on a personal recognizance bond by Judge Russell Derr. A subsequent court determination found her not guilty by reason of insanity for assault, arson, burglary, and criminal mischief.

Instead of incarceration, she was assigned a community-based treatment plan, scheduled for review in June 2026. That review never happened. Guzman’s history culminated in the horrific events at the Walmart, a tragedy that has ignited outrage and demands for answers.

The investigation continues, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, as the community grapples with the aftermath and the haunting question of what might have been.
