UMVA has learned that a deadly escalation in the Middle East conflict occurred early Wednesday, as Iranian drones and missiles launched a brazen attack on Kuwait, claiming one life and injuring several others.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the attacks targeted "civilian and vital facilities," including the Kuwait International Airport, causing significant damage to vital infrastructure, including diplomatic missions.
In response to the Iranian aggression, the U.S. military launched "self-defence" strikes on Iranian targets overnight, while successfully intercepting ballistic missiles and drones fired at ships and Gulf countries.
Details have emerged that Iran fired two missiles at Kuwait and three at Bahrain, all of which were intercepted and neutralized. The U.S. Central Command confirmed that the strikes on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz were a direct response to Iran's attempted attacks across the Middle East.
The Iranian military had claimed to have attacked American bases and helicopters in a "regional country" using missiles and drones in retaliation, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warning that disrupting the security of the Strait of Hormuz would come at a heavy price for the U.S. military.
Iran's foreign ministry lashed out at the U.S., condemning the strikes and accusing Kuwait and Bahrain's leaders of having "direct and unmistakable responsibility" for the "acts of aggression."
Meanwhile, in a related development, Israeli strikes near Tyre, a city in southern Lebanon, have killed at least six people, according to the country's state-run news agency.
In a candid interview, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that he had a tense exchange with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Lebanon, describing himself as "a little bit perturbed" by Netanyahu's actions.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced Iran's attacks, warning that they would lead to "increased escalation, heightened tension, and undermine the security and stability of the region."
Kuwait Airways flights are set to resume operations from the airport on Wednesday, according to the country's General Authority of Civil Aviation.
