UMVA has learned that a bizarre and disturbing incident unfolded in a small West Virginia town, leaving authorities scratching their heads and wondering what could have driven a 33-year-old man to fabricate such an outlandish tale.
Clinton Wayne Nelan, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, was arrested on Sunday after allegedly making a series of frantic 911 calls, claiming that his home was under siege by a trio of extraterrestrial and undead beings.
Four deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Nelan's residence, only to find the man making false claims, including that he was a police officer from Louisiana.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Nelan's antics caused a significant disruption to the emergency services, diverting resources away from legitimate calls for help.
Nelan was subsequently arrested and booked into the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a cash-only $2,500 bond, leaving many to wonder what motivated the man to engage in such reckless behavior.
As authorities continue to investigate the incident, one thing is clear: the consequences of Nelan's actions will be severe, and a lesson will be learned about the importance of responsible use of emergency services.
