A coordinated act of defiance unfolded last October in Randolph, Massachusetts, culminating in the arrest of seventeen individuals from across New England and New York. What began as a gathering quickly spiraled into a brazen street takeover, shutting down a major intersection and challenging the authority of law enforcement.
The intersection of North Main Street and Oak Street became a chaotic arena as drivers recklessly performed drifting maneuvers and donuts, transforming a quiet suburban area into a spectacle of speed and disregard. Investigators revealed the event wasn’t spontaneous; participants deliberately blocked intersections to create a safe zone for their dangerous stunts.
An estimated one hundred people surrounded the area, not as concerned citizens, but as an enthusiastic audience, capturing the illicit activity on their phones for social media. The scene quickly escalated beyond reckless driving, becoming a direct confrontation with those sworn to protect and serve.
Dashcam footage from a responding police cruiser paints a startling picture of the unfolding chaos. Participants, many masked, brazenly jumped onto the hood of the vehicle, seemingly unfazed by the arrival of law enforcement. Fireworks exploded in the intersection, adding to the volatile atmosphere.
The situation became even more perilous when a firework was ignited directly within the windshield wiper cowl of the cruiser, sending sparks flying towards the glass. This act of defiance underscored the level of disrespect and danger faced by the officers on the scene.
Among those facing charges is William Scott Cantwell, 19, of Rhode Island, who is accused of conspiracy, disorderly conduct, shoplifting, and interfering with a police officer. Three others – Divine Truth Norris Niles, Nazeem Vincent McLeod, and Casey Rondeau – share charges of conspiracy, disorderly conduct, and interfering with a police officer.
Jordan J. Ryan and Nahom Daniel Brook are charged with conspiracy and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, while Daniel Lee Jordan faces similar charges alongside accusations of attaching false plates to conceal his identity. Nathaniel Jaymoni Urbeaz is accused of conspiracy, disguising himself to obstruct justice, disorderly conduct, and interfering with officers.
Jaden Williams is charged with conspiracy and using false plates, and C. Anthony R. Llenas faces charges of conspiracy and disorderly conduct. Several others were charged with conspiracy to commit these acts, highlighting the collaborative nature of the event.
Randolph Police Chief Anthony Marag emphasized the inherent danger of these street takeovers, stating they create hazardous conditions for officers, travelers, and nearby residents. He lauded the extensive investigative work and inter-agency coordination that led to the arrests.
The successful investigation and apprehension of those involved represent a significant victory for law enforcement, sending a clear message that such reckless and dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. The case underscores the growing threat of these organized events and the commitment to ensuring public safety.
