The Great American State Fair held on Washington’s National Mall was promoted as a patriotic celebration marking the nation’s 250th birthday.
Organizers claimed the event attracted 45,000 attendees, describing the crowd as “packed to the brim.”
Video footage from the fair, however, shows a largely empty venue, with only a few dozen spectators gathered near the stage and expansive stretches of vacant grass behind them.
Actor Dean Cain, appearing on a live broadcast, asserted that the fair was “huge” and that attendance would continue to grow throughout the week.
Despite Cain’s remarks, the surrounding area in the video reveals sparse attendance, with roughly two dozen people visible and rows of empty chairs lining the performance area.
The fair’s attractions were limited to a 110‑foot Ferris wheel and a plywood arch, with no roller coasters or traditional carnival rides present.
Several musical acts slated to perform withdrew, leaving Trump as the primary headliner delivering a rally‑style speech accompanied by military bands.
On‑site observations and photographs indicate that the actual crowd size fell far short of the claimed 45,000, covering only a portion of the space comparable to a typical outdoor movie screening.
