Olivia Wilde Recalls Near-Fatal Horse Accident on Film Set, Credits Co-Star for Saving Her Life.
The actress, 42, shared a harrowing account of a horse accident that occurred while filming a Western movie, where she was thrown off a horse and left lying on the ground, unaware of the danger approaching.
Wilde explained that she was galloping across the desert with fellow co-stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, accompanied by 40 horses, when her horse suddenly jumped over a large ditch, throwing her off.
With her head and back injured, Wilde fell to the ground, where she was trapped on the other side of a dirt lip, making it impossible for the other horses to see her.
As she lay on the ground, Wilde recalled hearing the sound of approaching horses, which she described as sounding like thunder.
However, it was her co-star Walton Goggins who saved her life by turning his horse sideways in front of the approaching horses, protecting her from harm.
Wilde praised Goggins for his quick thinking and bravery, saying that he "saved me" and that she owes her life to him.
The film, Cowboys & Aliens, was released in 2011 and received positive reviews, but was ultimately a box office disappointment.
Wilde's account of the near-fatal accident serves as a reminder of the dangers of the film industry and the importance of having a supportive team on set.
