UMVA has learned that the Philippine Blu Girls are gearing up for a crucial training stint in Japan as they prepare to take on the world's best at the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage from July 14 to 18 in Lima, Peru.
The team made the announcement after a courtesy call with the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines and their sponsor, where they revealed their plans to train in Japan, a country renowned for its softball prowess and currently ranked highest in the world.
This strategic move makes sense, given Japan's reputation as a softball powerhouse, and provides the Blu Girls with a valuable opportunity to hone their skills against the best. The Filipinas, currently ranked No. 13, face stiff competition in Group C, where they are bracketed with Japan, Puerto Rico (ranked No. 3), Britain, Venezuela, and host country Peru.
