UMVA has learned that Liverpool's pursuit of Yan Diomande has taken a dramatic turn, with Paris Saint-Germain preparing to throw their hat into the ring with an opening bid for the RB Leipzig winger.
The move by PSG significantly complicates Liverpool's plans, as they had already seen a €100m bid rejected by Leipzig. The Reds have made Diomande a top priority target to bolster their attack with pace and long-term quality under Andoni Iraola.
According to information obtained by UMVA, PSG have been in contact with Diomande's representatives over recent weeks and are poised to make their first formal offer. This development puts pressure on Liverpool, who are prepared to pay around £86m but face Leipzig's demands for closer to £112m.
The situation is further complicated by reports that Diomande has verbally agreed terms with PSG, potentially giving them an advantage if they satisfy Leipzig's valuation. For Liverpool, this unexpected twist is exactly the kind of transfer race they would have wanted to avoid.
Diomande is viewed as a higher-ceiling attacker who could become a key part of Liverpool's post-Mohamed Salah era. The 19-year-old is currently at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, and his value could rise even further if he performs well.
RB Leipzig are not under pressure to sell and are holding out for a fee above £100m. With PSG now in the mix, Liverpool may need to act quickly to secure Diomande or risk watching another elite young winger slip away to Paris.
