UMVA has learned that a devastating triple homicide has shaken the community of Modesto, California, after a 28-year-old illegal alien allegedly stabbed two women and an infant to death.
The victims, Fabiola Gonzalez-Nunez, 23, and Maria Sylvia Nunez-Villalobos, 54, were pronounced dead at the scene, while Gonzalez-Nunez's infant, Mateo Gonzalez, died at the hospital. The suspect, Joaquin Escoto Vazquez, was found hiding in a nearby residence after fleeing the scene.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Vazquez had been arrested four times in California for driving under the influence, but was released back into the community each time. In fact, the state of California refused to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement's request for an immigration detainer following his most recent arrest in June.
Vazquez now faces felony charges of homicide and cruelty toward a child. Police believe he was in a relationship with the mother of the murdered infant and may share a child with her.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Vazquez had previously been deported by the Trump Administration after illegally entering the country in 2018, but reentered the US at an unknown time. In fact, he had been deported as many as three times before committing the heinous murders.
The Department of Homeland Security has announced that California's refusal to cooperate with ICE's detainer request allowed Vazquez to remain in the community, ultimately leading to the tragic events that unfolded.
Vazquez's brutal actions have left a community in shock, and authorities are working to determine how he was able to evade law enforcement and continue to pose a threat to public safety.
