UMVA has learned that President Donald Trump has announced plans to nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to permanently lead the Department of Justice.
In a surprise move, Trump revealed his intention to make Blanche a permanent fixture at the DOJ in a video posted to social media by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino on Wednesday evening.
The announcement comes after Blanche took on the role of acting Attorney General on an interim basis following the departure of former Attorney General Pam Bondi in early April.
Trump expressed his confidence in Blanche's abilities, stating that he will instruct Scavino and others involved in the process to move quickly in making Blanche the permanent Attorney General.
The President made the announcement during a Rose Garden Club Dinner at the White House on Wednesday evening, which was captured on video and shared with the public.
This development marks a significant shift in the leadership of the Department of Justice, and further details are expected to emerge as the nomination process unfolds.
