Senator Mitch McConnell released a photo of himself smiling in a hospital bed beside his wife, Elaine Chao, after spending nearly a month in care.
The image and accompanying statement followed the sudden death of fellow Senator Lindsey Graham and rumors that McConnell had been experiencing serious health issues.
The senator clarified that his hospitalization resulted from a fall, not a heart attack or stroke. He stated that he did not sustain broken bones or a concussion and that he has no tumors or hemorrhages.
McConnell added that he was briefly unconscious and has been dealing with a mild case of pneumonia during his recovery.
He thanked constituents for their well‑wishes and explained that he has been following medical advice closely, undergoing tests, and working toward a return to rehabilitation.
McConnell noted that, while he will not be able to return to the Senate floor to vote immediately, he remains active in legislative work through his staff and colleagues.
He reaffirmed his commitment to completing unfinished business before retiring at the end of his term and promised to keep the public updated on his health progress.
